Designed and made in-studio by the renowned Peter Lane, a sculptural ceramic vase from the 1970’s.
A large abstract frilled vase pushing the limits of clay. Going into the 1980’s, Lane began to solely work with porcelain; this piece is a precursor of Lane’s final focus. In 2018, Lane made his final works for a 60 year retrospective, highlighting his command and mastery as an artist. The organic frills flow almost like the fins of an aquatic creature. The more natural colour pallet and highlights of texture is a signifier of Lane’s earlier work, before transitioning to a vibrant airbrushed glaze. The stone grit line travelling down the centre of the piece is a raw contrasting statement to the soft and elegant surroundings.
